After initially failing to make this year’s Olympic gymnastics team, one Miami native will be heading to Rio after all.
Danell Leyva was named to the men’s team as an injury replacement for John Orozco, who tore his ACL during the recent training camp for this year’s games.
Leyva won the bronze medal in the all-around competition at the 2012 Olympics in London. He finished second in the parallel bars and third on the high bar at this year’s team trials.
