A Miami Palmetto Senior High School teacher has resigned amid allegations he had an improper relationship with a student, Miami-Dade County Public Schools officials said.
Alex Osuna, who taught marine science and biology and was a coach of the girl's lacrosse team, submitted the letter of resignation Wednesday, officials said.
"Allegations against the teacher were received about a month ago, regarding an improper relationship with a student. An investigation was launched," MDCPS said in a statement. "The employee today submitted a letter of resignation, which was accepted by the school board."
No other details were given.
A source told NBC 6 that Osuna had been suspended and was under investigation after a compromising picture of him with a student surfaced. Somebody saw the photo and alerted authorities, the source said.
