Oakland Park Man Caught Trying to Sell Stolen Weapons: BSO

An Oakland Park man with a lengthy criminal record for theft was arrested after he attempted to sell stolen weapons at a knife and gun show in Pompano Beach.

According to Broward Sheriff's Office deputies, 25-year-old John Singer was arrested after a person at the show recognized a weapon Singer was trying to sell as belonging to a friend. That person immediately notified a BSO deputy.

Deputies say Singer had acquired a small arsenal of weapons stolen from homes throughout Broward and Palm Beach counties. Some of the stolen weapons include vintage guns and even bayonets.

Singer has also been implicated in several car and home burglaries in Pompano Beach in the past few months. He has been arrested 17 times in the last six years for similar crimes.

Surveillance video from July shows Singer breaking into a victim's car, then running off after accidentally triggering the garage door opener, only to come back and burglarize the garage.

He stole several sporting good and lawn maintenance items, as well as a credit card and cash from the car.

Deputies recovered several dozen stolen items including guns, computers, cameras, phones and other electronics, as well as stolen IDs and credit cards.

It is not known if Singer has hired an attorney.
