One Dead, One Injured After Shooting and Car Chase

One person is dead and another is injured after a shooting in Boynton Beach led to a chase that ended in Miami Sunday morning.

Police said 44-year-old North Miami Beach resident Samori Kwame Walden showed up unannounced to the Boynton Beach home of his ex-girlfriend, 35-year-old Jyrece McClendon. According to Boynton Beach Police, the two had ended their relationship several months ago. Walden wanted to reconcile, but McClendon refused.

That's when police said Walden shot McClendon, then fled in a blue Acura TSX.

As Walden was leaving the scene, officers spotted him and attempted to stop the vehicle.

Police said Walden refused to stop, leading officers from Boynton Beach as well as Broward Sheriff's Office on a chase southbound on I-95. He then shot himself in the head while driving and crashed his car on Ives Dairy Road in Miami.

Walden died on the scene.

McClendon is being treated for non-life threatening injuries at Delray Medical Center.
