Police believe a so-called "swatting" incident is what led officers to raid a home Wednesday in a Pembroke Pines neighborhood.
The Pembroke Pines Police Department received a call just before 5 p.m. regarding a domestic-related shooting inside a home in the area of SW 157th Avenue and Enclave Circle West. The caller reported that someone was shot and there were hostages within the home.
Residents were advised to stay inside as police searched for a possible armed subject in the area. Two male subjects were inside the home and detained by officers.
After a thorough search, police said there were no victims and hostages and no evidence that a crime was committed.
Officials said it's possible that a false reporting of a crime -- also known as "swatting" -- may have instigated the incident.
