Suspect in Custody After Police Follow Speeding Car in South Florida

Authorities took a suspect into custody after following a speeding car that reportedly fled during a traffic stop in Miami Wednesday morning.

Footage showed the car, a stolen Maserati, speeding north on I-95 from Miami before exiting in southern Broward County.

Officers on the ground backed off as a police helicopter followed the car. The car drove onto Miramar Parkway and at one point the suspect got out but got back in and continued driving.

The suspect bailed out of the car in a Miramar neighborhood and fled on foot. He was seen being taken into custody a short time later in the 2600 block of Riverdale Drive.

Miramar Police identified the suspect as 26-year-old Delroy D. Roach. He's facing charges of grand theft, reckless driving, fleeing and resisting arrest, and more charges are pending.

The Maserati was stolen out of Palm Beach County, police said.
