Police Hope Video Leads to Missing Fort Lauderdale Man

Fort Lauderdale Police are hoping new video evidence will help lead them to a missing person.

There are still a lot of questions surrounding the disappearance of 25-year-old Steve James Mackrell. Now, new video has surfaced showing him at a gas station in Pompano Beach.

Police said Mackrell was last seen at that Valero gas station on July 30. Surveillance video shows him aimlessly walking around inside the station, but no one has seen him since.

It's been almost three weeks since he went missing. His family said they are worried sick.

"I don't know what else to think. We've done everything that we can do, but we're not gonna give up on it," said Mackrell's mother, Astrid Mackrell.

Cops said gas station cameras also caught him getting into some sort of altercation with a man in another vehicle. It appears that Mackrell threw something at a silver car.

Police are now looking for a black man in the passenger side of that vehicle. They want to speak with him to see if he can provide any details about Mackrell's whereabouts.

"If he knows anything about Steven, that's our last hope," Astrid expressed.

Earlier on the night he disappeared, investigators said Mackrell was also seen in the 600 block of Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale.

Mackrell is described as a white male, about 5'10" and 150 pounds. He was driving a white 2013 Ford Fusion with the license plate WJ70L.

"I am totally trusting in God and for him giving me the peace to keep going every day because without it, I can't keep going. This is too hard, and we want him home. That's all. We just want this to end," Astrid said.

If you know anything about the whereabouts of Mackrell, call Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
