A teenage boy was injured and was taken into custody along with another teen after a police-involved shooting in northwest Miami-Dade Monday, authorities said.
The shooting was reported in the area of Northwest 72nd Street and 19th Avenue. Footage showed multiple officers at the scene and a street blocked off with yellow crime tape.
Miami-Dade Police officials said officers responded to reports of shots fired and encountered three teens fleeing on foot and on bicycles.
One of the teens, who was armed, and another subject were apprehended. The remaining subject was also armed and at some point, as detectives attempted to apprehend him, shots were fired, Miami-Dade police said.
The 16-year-old boy who was hit was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The teens involved were two 15-year-olds and one 16-year-old, officials said. One of the 15-year-olds was later released. Charges are pending for the other two teens.
Police said they recovered two firearms at the scene that had been reported stolen.
The two Miami-Dade officers who were involved in the shooting were not identified. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting.
