Reward Increased For Suspect in Fatal Shooting of West Park Business Owner

The Hallandale Beach Police Department said a reward was increased in the manhunt for the suspect who shot dead Phillip Antonino, a local business owner who was trying to help a homeless man.

The community is offering a $16,000 reward to catch Antonino's killer.

It's been more than a month and Antonino's killer is likely still roaming the streets. Antonino was gunned down outside of his business in West Park. He was walking to work when he saw someone bullying a homeless man.

"He was just a great guy. He would give you the shirt off of his back and we’re here to support him and find justice for him," officer Pedro Abut said.

He stepped in to help but was shot dead. The shooting was captured on film but no arrests have been made.

"It's extremely frustrating. We understand an investigation has to take its course so we’re doing the best we can from the outside," Abut added. "Justice, eventually, will be served."

The Broward County Sherriff's Office is handling the investigation. However, in attempts to make an arrest, friends, donors and current and retired police officers, including the HBPD, raised money and started a fundraiser to offer a reward.

"It’s just amazing you know the outpour of support Phill Antonino was somebody who was loved in the community amongst the officers and other members," Abut added.
