Teen Girl Home Alone Calls 911 During Burglary Attempt in Miami

A teenage girl who was left home alone was the victim of an attempted break-in in Miami Tuesday.

The incident happened in broad daylight at a home near Southwest 11th Street and 24th Avenue, police said.

Josephine Casillas said her 13-year-old daughter was home alone.

"She's scared but she's good," Casillas said.

Police said the break-in happened after the male suspect they're looking for now knocked on the front door several times.

Casillas said her daughter saw the man through the peep hole but didn't answer because she didn't recognize him. Instead she ran into a bedroom and called 911 for help.

Investigators said the burglar didn't take anything. Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
