Marlins Have Cheap Seats, Most Pricey Eats

The average Marlins ticket costs $19

As far as taking your gal to a ball game goes, the Florida Marlins are about as cheap a date as you can find in Major League Baseball.

The MLB Team Market report, which monitors the cost of a game in fan dollars, released it's best buys in baseball and your Florida Marlins make the cut for low ticket prices.

The average price of a ticket is $19.06, which is about $7 less than the MLB average. Only the Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Angels, Pittsburgh Pirates, San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks are cheaper.

Even the premium seats are reasonable at $70 a pop for those days when you're feeling froggy.

But why, oh why, are there so many empty teal and orange seats at Sun Life Stadium every season? Well, our theory is it costs way too much to get drunk while watching the Fish.

The Marlins have the second highest beer prices in the Majors behind the Boston Red Sox. And what goes better with an expensive beer than the most expensive hot dog in baseball.

It will run you $5 to down a dog at a Marlins game.

So for a family of four, expect to spend around $72 for tickets, another $20 for hot dogs, $14 for a couple of beers, $5 for parking, $12 for soft drinks and a couple of Marlins baseball caps for sourvenirs at $30. Your grand total?

But as long as the Marlins put out a winner, fans will shell out a little extra cash for a cold one and a hot one.
