Food Court: Trial Over Failed D-Wade Eateries Begins

MV3 in Miami courtroom as trial over restaurants starts selecting jury

His team no longer on the court, Heat star Dwyane Wade has been spending plenty of time in court, including Wednesday's appearance in Miami to answer a $25 million lawsuit over his failed D-Wade's Place restaurant chain.

Jury selection began today as Wade's former business partners are taking MV3 to court for not doing enough to support the restaurants that folded in 2008.

Sporting a snazzy suit and refusing to comment on his way into court, Wade sat quietly with his attorneys at the defendant's table as jury selection took place.

Jury selection is expected to go through Thursday, with opening statements coming either tomorrow or Friday.

Wade's lawyer said the NBA star will likely testify during the two-week trial.

Wade has argued that he had every right to terminate the business relationship that saw D-Wade's Place eateries open in Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton.

The plaintiff is arguing that Wade's failure to properly publicize the restaurants doomed the franchise to failure. The restaurants failed just weeks after they opened.

The lawsuit isn't the only courtroom drama for the 28-year-old hoops star. He's also embroiled in a nasty divorce with estranged wife Siohvaughn Wade in Chicago.

Siohvaughn Wade has filed two lawsuits in the past week, starting with last week's accusation that Wade's girlfriend, actress Gabrielle Union, engaged in "sexual foreplay" in front of Wade's kids.

The second lawsuit, filed Tuesday, accused D-Wade of emotional and physical abuse, claiming he threw Siohvaughn to the ground while she was pregnant and yelled at the couple's 8-year-old son. Yesterday's lawsuit was filed just hours after Siohvaughn Wade turned herself into authorities following her failure to appear at a custody hearing.
