It was an up and down day at FIU yesterday that ended with over 500 yo-yo-wielding yo-yos celebrating their entry into the Guinness Book of World Records.
Some 550 students and community members simultaneously yo-yoed for three minutes, smashing the previous record of 400, at the Miami campus.
The group came together to raise awareness about the problems with yo-yo dieting and to promote the benefits of nutrition and exercise.
"It was a great success, we broke the record," said David Pollack, with Molina Healthcare of Florida, a sponsor of the event. "I think we were able to raise some awareness here for a healthy lifestyle."
