Complaints alleging illegal retaliation were filed by 37 employees at VA facilities in 19 states, NBC News reported. The U.S. Office of the Special Counsel is investigating the allegations, including cases in which employees were suspended, reassigned or threatened with demotion after bringing up improper procedures. “We’re concerned by what we’re seeing,” said Nick Schwellenbach, a spokesman for the OSC. “The frequency of retaliation complaints has given us a lot of pause.”
