One of these days I'd like to find out who the man was that proposed to FIFA and or UEFA that the best way to draw teams together in a competition is pulling numbered balls out of bowls. This is the 21st century last time I checked, right?

Anyway, that's the system used by UEFA Friday to determine it's quarterfinal match-ups for the 2008-09 Champions League. Conspiracy theorists love to think that the balls are somehow doctored to rig the pairings, but after today's draw those complaints fall on dead ears, because quite simply does anyone want to see Chelsea and Liverpool play yet again in the Champions League?
