Joe Buck Joins HBO

Just two days after losing Bob Costas to MLB Network, HBO has added another sports broadcaster best known for baseball play-by-play.

Joe Buck, who calls the NFL and Major League Baseball for FOX, has taken a job moonlighting at HBO, where he'll host a quarterly sports show that uses a town hall meeting format. The news was first reported by the New York Post and later confirmed by HBO.

"I am flattered and beyond excited that HBO has given me this opportunity," Buck said in a statement. "With HBO's track record, production quality and rate of success, there is no more desirable home in sports. I hope to create something fresh and unique for the network that truly showcases all I can do. And I hope to get Larry David's cell phone number someday."

Buck has often said he'd like to be a talk show host, and this would seem to be a step in that direction. But he won't give up the day job with FOX, where he'll remain the lead play-by-play voice on both football and baseball broadcasts.
