Go West young man, or specifically Northwest. MLS announced it's latest expansion team Friday, the Portland Timbers making the Pacific Northwest the new soccer capital of North America, with Seattle making a smashing debut Thursday night and Vancouver announced as an expansion city Wednesday.

The Soccer City faithful were delighted in a raucous announcement Friday, which included MLS commish Don Garber, owner Merritt Paulson and the city's mayor Sam Adams. Not a featured speaker, but referenced several times super fan Timber Jim was mentioned numerous times.
