Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater has been dancing for 50 years now. And tonight marks its last night in South Florida.
As America’s cultural ambassador to the world, the troupe brings African-American themes and history to the modern world of dance with awe-inspiring performances even Oprah has to comment on.
"Every American owes it to him or herself to see the Ailey [company] perform Revelations. It is an American phenomenon. I've probably seen it countless times and every time it's magical and spiritual and hopeful – everything we want ourselves to be and hope that our country will be," she told Entertainment Tonight last year.
The dancers move and shake to anniversary highlights and Revelations today at 2 p.m. at the Ziff Ballet Opera House. It’s a golden anniversary you don’t want to miss.
