Trump National Doral Miami Construction Ahead of Schedule: Eric Trump

As the Trump Hotel Collection announced the official renaming of the Doral resort as Trump National Doral Miami, Eric Trump stopped by the Doral renovation site Thursday to see the new facilities.

The nearly 800-acre property was purchased by the Trump Organization in June of 2012 and is slated to be unveiled for the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship in March 2014.

Trump said what is one of the most well-known golf courses in the world will have a whole new identity, but it won't lose its prestige.

"What we've done at Trump National Doral is nothing short of incredible," Trump said. "We've taken an asset that was always so renowned and prestigious... and made it the finest golf resort."

Trump said the resort would have a brand new look with every inch of property being rebuilt and renovated, including pools, golf courses, outdoor spaces and ballrooms. There will be a new hotel lobby, an expansive patio with 22 private cabanas, a redesigned state-of-the-art fitness center and an 8,000 square-foot terrace with a scenic view of the golf courses. A new 48,000 spa will feature 33 treatment rooms and more than 100 treatments and services.

"They literally won't recognize it," he said.

And that extends to the golf course as well. The resort will feature five enhanced and expanded golf courses highlighted by the expansion of its most famous course. The Blue Monster, which has hosted the PGA Tour every year since its opening, has been expanded with double the space on the driving range and more water throughout the course.

"The course is longer, bigger, more challenging," Trump said. "We have what will be the number one course probably anywhere in the world."

The construction is ahead of schedule, according to Trump, and he said the results so far have blown even him away.

"It's really an amazing gateway to Miami and something that we're very proud of," he said.
