Family Seeks Justice for Son Killed By Sucker Punch Over Smokes

Police hunt suspect who killed man after he was denied cigarette

The family of a young man who was killed by a deadly sucker punch after he denied a stranger a cigarette outside a Miami club is hoping his killer is found quickly.

Lisney Oliveira, 26, was killed early Monday morning after the blind side punch knocked him to the ground, where his head bounced off the concrete sidewalk.

"Nothing will bring him back, but at least I know that man wouldn't do that to someone else," mother Heloisa Oliveira told the Sun-Sentinel Wednesday from the family's Boca Raton home.

Police are looking for the Sosthene Louis, who they claim is the man who casually walked away from the scene at the corner of Northeast 2nd Avenue and Northeast 9th Street near Club Mekka.

According to an unidentified friend of Oliveira's who was at the scene, 35-year-old Louis walked up to the two and asked for a cigarette. The friend told the stranger they didn't have any and proceeded to walk away with Oliveira. That's when Louis hit Oliveira from behind, knocking Oliveira's head to the concrete sidewalk.

Surveillance video captured an image of Louis as he walked away just after the deadly punch.

Louis has two upper gold teeth and one gold tooth on his lower set, police said. Police said he uses the Metro Rail often. Louis has been arrested numerous times and has been jailed on various charges, ranging from drug possession to theft and aggravated battery.

Oliveira's family said the Brazilian native loved the Miami club scene, and loved dancing and having fun.

"At least I know he lived an amazing 26 years, and he lived it intensely," said father Lisney Oliveira Sr.

"He taught us how to live life," Heloisa Oliveira said.
