Fiery Tamarac Crash Kills One, Injures Two Others

A man the Broward Sheriff's Office says was driving erratically died when he crashed head-on with another vehicle in Tamarac early Saturday morning.

A BSO deputy saw a black Infiniti driving erratically around 4:30 a.m. Saturday morning, and attempted a traffic stop.

"It was consistent with somebody who was possibly an impaired driver," said Dani Moschella with the Broward Sheriff's Office.

When the deputy approached the vehicle, the driver sped off, going eastbound on Commercial Boulevard.

Per BSO policy, the deputy did not pursue the car, but put out a "be on the lookout", or BOLO, for the vehicle.

BSO received a 911 call several minutes later regarding a crash on Commercial Blvd, just west of the Turnpike.

Witnesses said the driver of the Infiniti was heading eastbound on Commercial when it crossed over the median and collided head-on with a Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV.

"The car swerved over and jumped the median and hit the SUV in front of me head-on, full impact," a witness told NBC 6. "The car burst into flames."

Paramedics said the driver of the Infiniti, identified as 23-year-old Regis Dorcilus of Deerfield Beach, died at the scene.

A passenger in the Infiniti suffered extreme burns in the fire. She was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, then Jackson Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the Jeep, identified as 36-year-old John Heeb of Tamarac, was airlifted to Broward Health Medical Center in critical condition.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
