Guard Trampled at Ultra Reveals the Injuries She Suffered

A security guard who was trampled during this year’s Ultra Music Festival in March filed a lawsuit against the festival organizers, the city of Miami, and others for $10 million.

Erica Mack was injured while working security at the festival after fencing in the area she was working collapsed. She was injured after a large group of people outside the festival tried to push over a fence at SE 1st Street and Biscayne Boulevard.

“I had two fractures to my skull, one at the temple and base of the skull and there was bleeding on my brain,” Mack said of her injuries.

Miami Police had reportedly been warned that the area where Mack was providing security needed stronger fencing in case of any problems. Miami Police Chief Manuel Orosa said organizers didn’t follow through.

Her attorney, Eric Isicoff, said she remains under the care of her doctors and regularly attends rehab for her broken leg.

“This has greatly and dramatically altered her life forever,” Isicoff said.

“I have to be aware that I do have limitations,” Mack said of the problems she deals with now. “Before, I was very active, athletic, active, I used to work.”

Ultra's organizer's released a statement Friday that read in part: “Without question, event organizers believe that the incident was caused by illegal actions of unknown third parties for which it is not responsible."

“It’s a very short-sighted and silly response,” Isicoff said of Ultra’s statement. “It really makes no legal sense.”
