MMA Fighter Critically Injured in Delray Beach Hit-and-Run Crash

Mixed Martial Arts fighter Jordan Paul Parsons was left critically injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver over the weekend in Delray Beach.

Police say they're looking for a silver Range Rover Sport, likely either a 2012 or 2013 model, in connection with Sunday's crash. The car's driver side mirror is missing, and it likely has damage to the driver's side headlight and bumper area.

"We know the vehicle possibly has some special characteristics. It had some body work or paint work done after the purchase of the vehicle. The bumper normally comes from the factory black, we know it was painted the color of the vehicle," said Sgt. Jeff Rasor with Delay Beach Police.

Parsons was walking west across Federal at Lindell Boulevard Sunday around 12:35 a.m. in the south side of the intersection. That's when Delray Beach police say the vehicle hit him and kept moving, leaving Parsons lying in the roadway.

A nearby officer arrived at the scene and applied pressure to Parson's wounded leg. Delray Beach Fire Rescue arrived and took Parsons to Delray Medical Center.

Police say he is in critical condition.

It's too early to determine who had the right of way, police say. Parsons was wearing headphones at the time of the crash and might not have heard the car coming.

"We want the business owners, especially the body shops in the area, that if the vehicle came in pre-crash and had this kind of body work to please contact us at the police department," Sgt. Rasor said.

Parsons, 25, is a Featherweight prospect who spent his last three fights competing for Bellator MMA. According to Sherdog.com, his record consists of 11 wins and 2 losses.

The North Dakota native currently trains at Jaco Hybrid Training Center in Boca Raton. A GoFundMe page has been established to raise money to assist with Parsons' medical fees.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Palm Beach County Crime Stoppers at (800) 458-TIPS.
