A man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly swung a hammer at his girlfriend, striking her hand and causing her to bleed, police said.
Willie Armstrong, 49, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He is being held on $1,500 bond.
According to the Sun Sentinel, Armstrong’s girlfriend wanted him to accompany her to the polls for the primary election. When Armstrong refused, the pair began arguing in the woman’s Lake Worth home, the newspaper said.
Armstrong then allegedly went outside, grabbed a hammer and struck her hand, cutting it open, the Sentinel said.
When deputies arrived at the scene, Armstrong admitted he had been arguing with his girlfriend but said she had tasered him, the newspaper reported.
Officials, however, found no markings on Armstrong’s body and took him into custody.
It wasn’t immediately known who was representing Armstrong.
