Police Investigating Fatal Hit and Run of Bicyclist

Fearly Brownlee, 57, was killed Tuesday morning in Hollywood after he was struck by a white 2002 Jaguar

Police are investigating the death of a 57-year-old man who was struck and killed while riding his bicycle in Hollywood.

Fearly Brownlee, a father of nine, was fatally struck on Johnson Street early Tuesday morning by a white 2002 Jaguar, which didn't stop at the scene, Hollywood Police said.

Police said Eve Ramsden was driving to the airport with her adult son when their car struck Brownlee. Ramsden, who was found a short time later, told officers they thought they had hit a box, police said.

Brownlee was struck in the center turn lane and police, who said his bike had no damage, believe he may have been crouched down next to it when he was hit.

Ramsden hasn't been charged.

"The people involved here have been identified and so has the vehicle, it's being reviewed right now to see if there's any criminal intent or neglect that has been associated with the accident before we can file charges with the state attorney's office," Hollywood Police Sgt. Gene Cochenour said.

On Wednesday, the Brownlee family told NBC 6 they think Ramsden should be charged with vehicular homicide.

"It was more important for them not to miss that flight, or to get away, than to render aid," said Brownlee’s sister, Theresa Moore.

"What bothers me, he had to die alone in the street," said his mother, Helen Brownlee.

The family said Brownlee, who had childhood polio, couldn't walk well but could ride his bicycle and relied on it for transportation.

"I don't even know what I'm feeling right now,” said Brownlee’s daughter, Felicity Brownlee. “Actually, I just know I miss my dad. I was up all night."
