Hundreds of Miami residents took part in the annual toy giveaway in Allapattah Saturday.

From a bicycle raffle to tables full of toys, more than a thousand toys were donated for area kids.

"All these toys are going to make lots of kids very, very happy," Jorge Garcia said.

The Police Athletic League and a city program called the "Neighborhood Enhancement Team" or N.E.T. hosted the event at their Allapattah headquarters and local businesses make the donations.

"The only thing we have to see is the kids' faces and all the parents giving us thanks because they're going to have a toy for Christmas," NET administrator Celso Ahumada said.

And the children and parents were definitely grateful.

"They're really happy with the gifts and I couldn't be more happy," mother Mara Estrella said.
