The case of the missing peacocks in Coconut Grove is still unsolved, and things heated up when neighbors talked about it at a crime watch meeting Wednesday.
"What's happening with the peacocks?!," neighbor Fred Stanton Smith said. "We've asked our elected officials to find out where are they."
Half of the people in the room came for that same reason.
"It's kind of eerie for us to come out and not hear them for the majority of us who enjoy their being," he said.
Last month, people who live near the intersection of Crystal Terrace and Natoma Street said that about 40 of the colorful birds vanished. Now, they are demanding answers from law enforcement.
The crime watch meeting was held at a Coconut Grove church that ironically has a peacock sitting right outside. It set the tone for the meeting where the big birds and a specific neighbor were talked about. Neighbors said a woman is trying to kill them by throwing rocks at them – and even using her truck.
"I saw her drive through Tony's yard, pretty fast, trying to run over peacocks. I was astounded," said neighbor Carol Garvin. "I said, 'You almost killed that peacock.' She said, 'I want to kill them."'

NBC 6 tried to talk to the neighbor in question. Her truck was parked outside, but she didn't answer the door.
"There's something going on and we want to find out," Smith said. "What's going on?"
The commander in the meeting, Miami Police's Richard Gentry, said he will speak with the neighbor who is accused of trying to hurt the peacocks.
He also reminded neighbors that only a licensed trapper can remove the birds with permission from the property owner.
