The 34-year-old man was conscious when deputies arrived and said he had gotten in an argument over Facebook activity, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said.

A man was airlifted from the Florida Keys to Miami after he was hit multiple times in the head with a golf club, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

The 34-year-old man was conscious when deputies arrived and said he had gotten in an argument over Facebook activity with Jesse Rizzo, 18, the sheriff’s office said.

The argument began at around 1:30 a.m. Monday when deputies responded to a call at Fat Deer Key.

When deputies arrived the injured man told them Rizzo had hit him with the golf club and with his fists, the sheriff’s office said.

Rizzo, who was still there, admitted to striking the man with the golf club, which deputies found in his room, authorities said.

The victim was airlifted to the Ryder Trauma Center for treatment, while Rizzo was arrested, the sheriff’s office said.

Rizzo was charged with aggravated battery. It wasn’t immediately known if he had an attorney.
