Consumer Reports: Wireless Speakers

With more of us keeping our music on phones and tablets, the easiest way for others to listen is with a wireless speaker. Consumer Reports tested 31 different speakers.

Among the better sounding portable wireless speakers tested is the Jabra Solemate Max for $300. It’s easy to set up, and the rugged exterior promises to be water-resistant.

The Sony SRSX7 is another Consumer Reports pick. The look is sleek, and it connects easily and costs $250.

And for about half the price at $130, the new Bose Soundlink Color is a Consumer Reports Best Buy. It’s small and lightweight, and it has good sound quality. It’ll even talk you through the setup.

Another option to consider is the TDK Life on Record, for $145. It has a rugged exterior and good sound quality, and a USB port lets you recharge a smart phone while you’re playing music. It’s another Consumer Reports Best Buy.
