Family Renews Search for Man's Killers in 2010 Murder

The family of a man who was gunned down in front of his children by masked assailants during a 2010 home invasion in Miramar is renewing efforts to find his killers.

Raymond Adderly grew up with rapper Rick Ross and was an aspiring rapper himself. His family and police think more than ever before that the men who gunned him down in front of his family were looking for what his mother said was "Rick Ross money."

"It stays near to my heart and my mind each and every day and every minute of the day," Kirtrina Adderly said about her son's murder.

Adderly was 33 when he was killed in front of his three kids, none older than 7 at the time.

"Now frequently, they have really been expressing themselves and how hurt they are about the situation with their father and what they witnessed," Kirtrina Adderly said. "Me being an adult, I just can't imagine what they witnessed."

The night started with a festive program at the kids' school and a trip to the Sam's Club on University Drive, where the sales receipt shows Adderly purchased liquor for the holidays. When he pulled in his drive his killers were waiting. A few minutes later, his life was gone.

"Anyone to do something like this just doesn't have a heart or conscious, they just don't," Adderly said. "I just feel in my heart mind and soul that he was targeted."

Adderly was seen with Rick Ross often, even in a video. After his death, the rapper posted messages on Twitter: "Rest in Peace Raymond" and months later as the case grew cold, "My little bro raymond...gone too soon."

Miramar Police Detective Steve Toyota has reinforced his belief Adderly's connection to Ross motivated the killers.

"His association with rapper Rick Ross, that he was targeted based on somebody they thought he was, we believe he was targeted more for his appearance," Toyota said.

The killers concealed their faces and only found Adderly carrying a small amount of cash, but left no doubt about their brutality.

"Very cold and callous people. No regard for human life," Toyota said. "Scary, its scary that these people are out there."

"They have probably already it done it to some one else, no question about it. I don't think this was there first time taking somebody's life," Adderly said. "And if it was they more than likely have done it again. So somebody out there knows what happened to my son."

To this point, no one has come forward. Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
