More Sexual Assault Charges Filed Against Former Miami-Dade Swim Instructor

Two more cases of alleged child sex abuse have been filed against a Miami-Dade swim instructor who has been jailed on three similar charges before.

Miami-Dade Police charged 20-year-old Daniel Diaz-Mejia on counts of lewd and lascivious molestation on a child under the age of 12.

According to an arrest report, two 7-year-old girls claimed that Diaz Mejia placed his hand under their bathing suits during swim lessons and touched their private areas before later telling their parents.

The incidents are alleged to have happened while Diaz-Mejia was working at the pool at South Dade Park on Southwest 280th Street in Homestead.

Earlier this month, Diaz-Mejia was arrested on similar charges and admitted to committing the acts according to a previous police report.

Miami-Dade County Parks officials confirmed that Diaz-Mejia was an employee of the parks department for a little over three years but no longer works for them. Officials said they couldn't comment since it's still an active police investigation.

Diaz-Mejia is behind held with no bond.
