Pet of the Week: Alana

Alana is still a puppy, and is expected to be a medium or large-size dog once she is full-grown.

This week's pet is Alana, a 2-month-old Labrador Retriever mix.

Alana is still a puppy, and is expected to be a medium or large-size dog once she is full-grown.

She has a sweet personality and should be easy to train.

Alana and her siblings were surrendered to the Humane Society of Greater Miami, and they are all looking for their forever homes.

For the month of July, The Humane Society is featuring their "Red, White and Woof" special. Red ribbons on kennel cards mean the animal's adoption fee is 50 percent off. White ribbons mean the adoption fee is 10 percent off. Blue ribbons mean the adoption fee is completely waived.

The Humane Society is trying to help Miami-Dade become a "no-kill" county by offering discounted spay and neuter costs through the months of June and July. The cost to spay/neuter will be $30 for dogs and $15 for cats.

The Humane Society will also provide free spay/neuter surgeries, rabies vaccine and ear tip for community cats that don't have an owner.

For more information on how to adopt Alana, call 305-696-0800 or visit the Humane Society's website here.
