Police are searching for the people who shot a Deerfield Beach pizza deliveryman inside of an apartment complex during an alleged robbery attempt.

Officers arrived at the scene inside the Tallman Pines Apartments off I-95 and Sample Road shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday, where a security guard told investigators that a group of teenagers ordered the pizza and attempted to rob the deliveryman when he arrived.

The victim was identified by his mother as 40-year-old David Orcutt.

"He walked away from them and they shot him, twice or three times in the leg," Joanne Orcutt said. "He's just trying to earn a living."

David Orcutt was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is expected to be okay.

"They robbed him, they didn't get no money, they didn't get the pizza, nothing, apartment security guard Earl Saunders said. "Just senseless, senseless act of violence for no reason."

Police haven't released any information on the suspected gunmen. Anyone with information is asked to call Broward CrimeStoppers.
