Several Cars Burglarized at NW Miami-Dade Apartment Complex

Residents in a northwest Miami-Dade apartment complex had a rude awakening Thursday, as dozens of cars were broken into and ransacked overnight.

In total, Miami-Dade Police say 23 vehicles were vandalized and eight were burglarized. In all, 31 cars parked at the Hibiscus Point Apartments off of Northwest 79th Street and 13th Court were targeted.

"I was walking down the line, you could just see everyone's window busted busted busted," said resident Sarahi Willis whose husband's ID was stolen from their car.

Residents say the vandals left broken glass and stole important documents such as ID's and insurance information. Many of the residents were forced to call out of work and stay home to deal with the matter.

"If kind of takes a little bit of energy out of you," said resident Jeremy Jacobs.

Resident Laverne Bailey also woke up to see her car had been vandalized.

"My car was broke in from the drivers side," Bailey says. "They bust the whole driver's side window."

Police remained at the scene Thursday afternoon investigating.

So far, police have not released a description of the suspect.
