Big Orange barely rang in the new year in downtown Miami before the first South Florida babies of 2018 were being born.
Baby Brendan Jorge was born at 12:05 a.m. at Memorial Hospital West in Pembroke Pines. Hospital officials said the 8-ounce boy and his mom are doing great.
"They had the glasses, they had the hats, I had 15 nurses laboring me yesterday," said Brendan's mom, Melissa. "It was amazing."
Mom's due date was Dec. 31, but she thought delivery would come a week late.
"He's been great so far, I can't complain," she said.
Just two minutes later, at 12:07 a.m., Broward Health Medical Center welcomed 9 pound, 10 ounce Natali Lin Crespo.
At Mount Sinai Medical Center on Miami Beach, little Valentino Ortiz was born at 1:58 a.m., weighing 7 pounds, 13 ounces.
Plametto General Hospital in Hialeah welcomed little Dylon Fontela at 8:48 a.m. He weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces.
