Suspect Arrested on Attempted Murder Charge in Florida City Shooting: Police

Police said they arrested a suspect on an attempted murder charge after he shot a man in the chest in a Florida City housing development Friday morning.

Florida City Police detectives released few details about the alleged shooter, Lee Denson, only saying that he was charged with the attempted murder of Joseph Forsythe in the incident which occurred in the area of 855 Southwest 6th Place just after 10 a.m.

Forsythe was taken to Kendall Regional Hospital, where he is recovering, police said.

Witness Junior McNair was there as an argument between the two neighbors turned into gun violence, with a baby dangerously close nearby. He said he saw the men fighting, then heard two shots.

“I had to run for my life. I was fitting to get shot too,” McNair said.

The suspect’s wife, who kept her identity hidden, showed up on the scene after hearing the news

"Everything together is just nerve-racking,” she said.

She said the cops have it all wrong.

"The person is a lot bigger than my husband is, and he came to our house,” she said. “My husband was not doing anything wrong. He was defending himself.”
