Walmart Announces Changes to Black Friday Plans

The world's largest retailer has unveiled its Black Friday plans, and they're markedly different than previous year's strategies.

According to a report from CNBC, Walmart announced that for the first time ever, the majority of its Black Friday deals, roughly 96 percent, will be available online starting at 3:01 a.m. ET on Thanksgiving Day.

"It's all day, so you don't have to wait forever. That's amazing," one shopper said.

"It should be less stressful for the people. I don't like lines," another shopper added.

In-store deals won't be available until 6 p.m. local time.

The move represents a big change for the chain. It has historically been known for Black Friday doorbusters with thousands of customers waiting in line, sometimes overnight, to nab the best deals.

Other changes include an interactive circular, which will be made available on the Walmart mobile app in advance of the print version.

Walmart is also holding only one Black Friday doorbuster event, as opposed to multiple separate events offered last season.

Shoppers will still have access to Walmart's one-hour guarantee which promises that customers in certain parts of the store will be permitted to purchase five doorbusters between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Some of the markdowns include the Beats by Dre Studio Headphones for $169, a markdown of $130.95, and an LG 55-inch 4K TV for $698. That's $300 off the purchase price, CNBC reports.
