Broward County Sheriff's Office Deputy Dies of Brain Cancer

The Broward County Sheriff's Office is mourning the loss of one of their own.

On Wednesday, BSO announced that Deputy Thomas O'Keefe lost a long, hard-fought battle with brain cancer over the weekend.

He was 31-years-old.

A third-generation law enforcement officer, O'Keefe started working for BSO in 2003 when he was just 19-years-old. Both his father and grandfather had careers in law enforcement.

O'Keefe served in the Tamarac, Deerfield Beach and Dania Beach districts during his career with BSO.

He also worked in multiple units in the Strategic Investigations Division.

Condolences for O'Keefe have poured in to the Broward Sheriff's Office Facebook page.
