Police are investigating after an elderly woman was struck and killed by a van on Miami Beach Wednesday, officials said.
The incident happened in the area of 41st Street and Sheridan Avenue, Miami Beach Police said.
According to police, the woman was walking in the crosswalk when she was struck by the van, which was making a left turn.
The driver of the van stayed at the scene and was cooperating, police said. The van was from MCCI Medical Group. Workers at the scene said the woman was a patient of MCCI.
"We want to express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim. MCCI is fully cooperating with authorities as they investigate the exact circumstances of this accident," the company said in a statement.
All lanes were closed in the area as a result of the crash.
No other information was immediately known.
