Lake Worth Man Kills Pregnant Wife: Cops

Paul Daniels is facing a first-degree murder charge

Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man they say tried to kill himself after he fatally shot his pregnant wife, The Palm Beach Post reported.

Paul Daniels, 36, of Lake Worth, was arrested Thursday morning and faces one count of first-degree premeditated murder, according to online jail records.

Authorities found the man's wife, Donna Daniels, 27, unresponsive inside of a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds to her back, according to the newspaper. She was five months pregnant.

Paul Daniels was lying on the floor next to the car with a gun and a gunshot wound to his head, the Post reported. Palm Beach County Jail officials confirmed he is currently being treated in the Delray Community Hospital.

Detectives say he shot his wife when she was running away from him.

Daniel's son and daughter were crying in the front yard of the home. The girl told police "My mom and dad got into a big fight inside the house and then outside. Dad pulled out a gun and shot Mom," according to a probable cause affidavit.

The girl also said that Daniels shot his son, but that she ran away before he could shoot her, according to the affidavit. The man's son has been treated and was released from the hospital, the newspaper said.

The Florida Department of Children and Families
is investigating.

Vivian Chao, a neighbor of the couple, told police that Paul choked Donna as the argument began, the Post reported. She also said that Donna was planning on divorcing her husband.

"I guess he just lost it," Chao was quoted as saying.

The couple who rented out the home to the Daniels told the newspaper that they were recently served an eviction notice.
