Miami Broward Carnival Celebrates Caribbean Heritage

It was a Caribbean celebration going on in Miami Sunday. Revelers donned colorful costumes for the Miami Broward Carnival, a street party that's become a staple in South Florida.

"To me Carnival means culture," said Marcc Rose, actor and the carnival's grand marshall. "Carnival means to pretty much get in touch with where you come from."
The Miami Broward gives the people of South Florida a chance to celebrate their Caribbean heritage.
"I had the shakerea of course, and that's a part of my African culture," said Anumaat Kahina, the Miss St. Croix Carnival Queen.
The Miami Broward carnival is a place for people to come from across the region to share food, culture, to connect with friends and families, and, of course, to show off their elaborate costumes.
