Mother Arrested for DUI on I-95 With Child in Vehicle: FHP

A traffic stop along I-95 over the weekend appeared to be a typical DUI stop with a woman performing field sobriety tests. What the dash camera video doesn't show is her two-year-old child inside the vehicle.

The Florida Highway Patrol said it all started Saturday night when the woman was spotted by a trooper in her red Kia Sorento, pulled over in an emergency lane of I-95 southbound, close to State Road 84 in Broward County.

The trooper stopped to see if she needed help and saw the woman's young son in the back. Soon he suspected the woman was under the influence of alcohol.

The woman, identified as 43-year-old Colleen Loughman, was asked to perform field sobriety tests. Dash camera video appears to show her performing the tests, but not taking them seriously. At one point she stops, poses and waves at the dash cam.

FHP said Loughman failed the tests. The video then shows her resisting multiple officers as they tried to arrest her for alleged drunk driving. She repeatedly yelled "no" and "get off of me."

The troopers eventually got Loughman handcuffed and said she later admitted to having two drinks with dinner earlier in evening and said she took prescription meds, including three Xanax.

FHP said the child was unharmed and released to his father.

Loughman is facing several charges including child abuse without great bodily harm and driving under the influence of alcohol. She has been released from jail but it's unknown whether she has an attorney.
