Pedestrian Killed in Crash on I-95 in Fort Lauderdale: FHP

Florida Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash that shutdown a portion of Interstate 95 in Fort Lauderdale.

The incident shut down the southbound exit to Interstate 595 from Interstate 95 in Fort Lauderdale Saturday morning.

According to FHP, two vehicles were traveling southbound on the I-95 ramp to I-595, when both vehicles struck 30-year-old Diego Ramires.

Ramires' parents got the news around 8 a.m. Saturday.

"Talking about him I sound like crazy guy I can't manage too much, just like now," said his father, Jose Ramires. "The way he treats people and lives his life is beyond beautiful"

Ramires was standing or walking in the roadway at the time of the incident, says police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators have identified two females drivers they believe each struck Ramires . One driver was in a BMW and the other was driving a Hyundai. Based on evidence troopers believe a third driver could have hit him and fled.

The reason behind why Ramires was walking on the I-95 is still and unanswered, but investigators knows the initial impact happened in near Davie boulevard in the city of Fort Lauderdale

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
