Thousands from around the country rallied on Saturday demanding that migrant parents be reunited with their children.
“Families Belong Together” rallies were held in Washington, D.C., New York, Las Vegas, Miami and many other cities around the country.
Protesters were joined by celebrities, like Dian Guerrero. She shared her experience as a child of an undocumented immigrant.
“It’s a denial of children’s humanity to say that because they were born in a difficult or dangerous place at the wrong time that they don’t deserve a second chance.”
Outspoken advocates like John Legend and his wife Chrissy Teigen took the stage in Los Angeles to protest President Trump’s zero tolerance immigration policy.
“Can you imagine a city without the contribution of immigrants? How bland, how flavorless LA would be. How boring! Too many people demonize immigrants, like they’re stealing something from the people born here,” said Teigen.
Meanwhile in Downtown Miami, demonstrators rallied outside of Miami-Dade College’s Wolfson Campus. Participants with the Florida Immigrant Coalition said their focus is for children separated from their parents at the border to be reunited with their family as soon as possible.

“It’s really critical that we keep our eyes on what is happening and make sure that these children know and these families know that we are there for them. We are fighting for them and we don’t believe that our country should be treating them this way,” said Daniella Levine Cava, a Miami-Dade County Commissioner.
The determined group took their march to Freedom Tower, while chanting their message of action. Despite last week’s executive order from President Trump to keep families together at the border, the group says more must be done.
