Attempted Robbery Leads to Shooting at Auto Shop: BSO

Authorities were investigating after an attempted robbery turned into a double shooting at an automotive shop in Oakland Park Monday.

It happened in the 2900 block of Northwest 17th Terrace.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said a man was inside the office at the business, when two male suspects walked in and threatened him with a gun. The man was able to obtain possession of the gun and shoot one of the suspects, according to investigators.

The man was also shot. Both men were transported to the hospital where they were recovering from gunshot wounds.

Witnesses reported hearing as many as six gunshots. David Bentley said he saw one of the victims being worked on by a medic.

"The second victim was sitting in a chair inside, he was stripped of his clothing, put on a gurney, was holding his throat, appeared to be bleeding from his upper body," Bentley said.

Detectives are now looking for a dark grey or black, newer model BMW and at least one other suspect.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (954) 321-4740.
