U.S. Mint Runs Out of Silver Coins

The U.S. Mint suspended sales of its 2013 American Eagle silver coins amid high demand from investors seeking refuge from U.S. uncertainty, Reuters reported. The U.S. Mint, which was on track to blow past its all-time monthly high of 6.1 million ounces -- which was set last January -- told authorized dealers it would resume selling the coins the week of Jan. 28. β€œWith silver, you can benefit from both sides: its safe- haven status and the fact that it’s also an industrial commodity,” Frederique Dubrion, the Geneva-based president and chief investment officer of Blue Star Advisors SA, told Bloomberg News reported.
