    A man was shot and killed Friday in Miami Gardens, according to police.

    The 900 block of NW 181st Street was blocked off for almost eight hours as Miami Gardens Police investigated the shooting.

    Officials said they received reports of a shooting at 3:40 p.m.

    "We discovered an adult male who was shot. Fire rescue responded to the scene, pronounced the adult male deceased on scene," police spokesman Det. Michael Wright said.

    A man was shot on the 900 block of NW 181st Street in Miami Gardens, police said. NBC 6's Justin Finch spoke with Miami Gardens Police spokesman Michael Wright.

    He was unable to confirm whether or not this incident was related to recent shootings in the area.

    Detectives did not release the victim's name, but said they are actively searching for the shooter and need the public's help.

    "We're actually pleading for the public's assistance, because we can't do it without the public," Wright said.
