Police said the suspect is a white male in his mid- to late 20s, has short hair, and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and dark pants.

Fort Lauderdale Police said they are searching for a burglar who attacked a 91-year-old woman in her sleep.

The man forced his way into her home on the 1300 block of SE 14th Street during the early morning hours of last Friday, Aug. 24 and woke her up as he rummaged through her nightstand, police said in a statement.

“The frightened victim immediately screamed for help as the burglar grabbed her by the neck and placed his hand over her mouth,” police said. “The victim copiously kicked and scratched the suspect until she was free.”

The suspect – described as a white male in his mid- to late 20s with short hair, who was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and dark pants – fled out the front door, police said.

Police urge anyone with information about the incident or the suspect to call Detective Moule at 954-828-6032 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
