Welcome to Miami, tennis, where our other athletes will attempt to kick your butt. Andy Roddick and Dwyane Wade met up Saturday to play a doubleheader of H.O.R.S.E. and tennis, and, well, let's just say Roddick was better at basketball than Flash was with a racquet.
We agree, Andy, that looks unfair. Wade wasn't allowed to dunk, but Roddick only lost H.O.R.S.E. by one letter.

Consensus said Roddick's jumper was pretty decent, but nothing matched his 100-mph serve. "That serve was coming," Wade said. "I couldn't see it until it got in front of my face."

His, "sitter," well, that's another story. The combination of great tennis and the best fun Miami can offer makes the Sony Ericsson tournament one of the most anticipated stops on the tour.

"This is not Tilikum, right?" Fernando Gonzalez took some time out to cavort with a dolphin at Miami Seaquarium...

as did Marcelo Melo. Love-all.

Dinner, shopping, dancing, parties...take that, other tournaments! Its blend of competition, atmosphere, and events makes the Sony Ericsson one of the most anticipated stops on both the ATP and WTA Tours. Just ask Caroline Wozniacki, Aleksandra Wozniak and Agnieszka Radwanska.

Wozniacki and Radwanska did some shopping damage before the tourney's kickoff bash at LIV on Tuesday night. "It was supposed to be just dinner, not shopping, but we saw some really nice shoes for the players' party, so we had to have them,'' Wozniacki, 19, told the Herald. "Agnes loves to dance. She never sits down.''

DJ Entice, Basketball Wives' Evelyn Lozada, and player Nicolás Almagro took the Winter Wimbledon nickname to heart and closet, wearing white to LIV.
As did Jennifer Williams, Tim Hardaway, and world no. 28 Dominika Cibulkova.

Where else can you get ex-MTV VJ Simon Rex and Star Jones' ex, Al Reynolds? On second thought, don't answer.
Can't tell if Feliciano López and Andy Murray are gawking or trying to figure out how to give Lauren Pope and Maddy Ford each a hamburger. With the top seeds inactive until Thursday, they could take time out to enjoy the 305.
Serena Williams isn't playing, but was on hand -- in blue -- at the Fontainebleau. A FILA fashion show, pool party in Coral Gables, and two more parties are still to come.

Even tennis is all about The U: Broncos linebacker DJ Williams, Vikings tackle and Boyfriend of Venus Williams Bryant McKinnie, and Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma. In addition to pumping out NFL talent, Miami also teaches the critical one-foot-forward purple carpet pose.

"I love Miami because there's a lot of energy in this city, the fans are involved and very loud, and the atmosphere is electric,'' said Jelena Jankovic, with revelers. "It really suits my personality. I'm outgoing and kind of out there, and like to have fun, so it is a perfect place for me."

while Pharrell Williams performed with his band N.E.R.D. "This tournament is not as quiet as other ones," said player Robin Soderling in an understatement.

Reason no. 4,974,284 why no one forgets what stop on the tour this is.
We can find Ivo Karolvic in the club, and did.

On Thursday, world no. 2 Wozniacki took time out to play a friendly against Coral Gables' own New Orleans Saint, Jonathan Vilma. Bet Wimbledon can't produce a linebacker!

She got his jersey (and, we presume, the win), he got a giant tennis ball and a hug. Here's guessing he was pretty cool with that.

The tournament kicked off with Glam.Set.Match, an exhibition pairing celebs and players. "Real Housewives" star Kelly Bensimon was on hand.

Glam, indeed: lovely Ana Ivanovic was paired with singer Jay Sean. No doubt she'll look a little sweatier later this week, when she makes a run at the finals. But for now: sun, fun, and Florida.
