Weather wise, the drier morning weather will give way to afternoon storms across parts of South Florida with rain chances increasing into the weekend.

No. 1 - Eight people accused of stealing more than $5 million from a Florida casino operated by a Native American tribe are facing dozens of charges.

Miami federal prosecutors said in a news release Wednesday that the group tampered with gambling machines at the casino run by the Miccosukee tribe. The machines would generate credit vouchers that were then exchanged for cash.

No. 2 - Police say they have arrested a male teenager who allegedly admitted to shooting a transgender person to death last week in Southwest Miami-Dade.

Officers say the 17-year-old was arrested on Monday for an unrelated case before admitting to shooting 21-year-old Kiki Fantroy to death on the morning of July 31st near Southwest 222nd Street and 115th Court.

No. 3 - The South Florida swimming instructor is accused of inappropriately touching young girls during swim lessons will be back in court.

20-year old Daniel Diaz-Mejia will be formally arraigned on five counts of lewd and lascivious molestation of a child stemming from alleged incident at a facility in South Dade.

No. 4 - Justice Secretary Wanda Vázquez became Puerto Rico's new governor Wednesday, just the second woman to hold the office, after weeks of political turmoil and hours after the island's Supreme Court declared Pedro Pierluisi's swearing-in a week ago unconstitutional.

Accompanied by her husband, Judge Jorge Díaz, and one of her daughters, Vázquez took the oath of office in the early evening at the Supreme Court before leaving without making any public comment.

No. 5 - The National Association of Black Journalists is holding its annual convention right here in South Florida. On Thursday, there will be a forum with Democratic hopefuls for the 2020 presidential elections.

No. 6 - Get your Dolphins gear ready as Miami is playing its first preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons tonight at Hard Rock Stadium at 7:30 p.m.

It will be the first game for the team’s new head coach Brian Flores – who was hired after 15 seasons as an assistant with the rival New England Patriots.
